Documental escrito y dirigido por José Octavio Toledo Alcalde (José Toledo), así como producido en conjunto por José Toledo y la Community Access Television Services - Monroe Public Library, Bloomington (Indiana-US).
En medio de frías e insensibles estadísticas, así como de prolongados debates sobre la Ley de Reforma Migratoria, millones de personas se ven obligadas a vivir sin ser reconocidos oficialmente como "ciudadanos y ciudadanas " sufriendo el estigma de ser considerados y consideradas como "indocumentados e indocumentadas" o "ilegales".
UNFREEDOM: Latino Immigrants in a Midwestern Town (SIN LIBERTAD: Inmigrantes latinos en una ciudad del Medio Oeste) filmado entre la ciudad de Bloomington una pequeña ciudad del Medio Este norteamericano y la ciudad del D.F en México. Registra experiencias personales y familiares de personas provenientes y no de América Latina (en particular de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos) las cuales desarrollan su cotidianidad en la Tierra de la Libertad viviendo, irónicamente en jaulas de oro, sin plena libertad.
El documental pretende ser un tributo a toda aquella persona, que en el ejercicio de sus derechos de movilidad, decidieron emigrar en búsqueda de mejores condiciones de vida las cuales le fueron, y siguen siendo, negadas en sus lugares de procedencia. En la búsqueda del "American Dream" solo encontraron pesadillas entre ellas el de no poder regresar a sus países reencontrándose con sus familias. Todo esto ocurre entre una serie de abusos y violaciones que sufren por encontrarse viviendo bajo este inhumano status.
El tributo va dirigido -de igual forma- a todas aquellas personas que siendo o no de procedencia latino-hispana han dedicado sus vidas, personal o institucionalmente, al apoyo, promoción y defensa de los derechos fundamentales de personas en condición de "ciudadanos" no reconocidos. Por esta razón, UNFREEDOM registra personas -residentes de la ciudad de Bloomington- que desde el ámbito social, académico, religioso y gubernamental acompañan en la esperanza y las luchas a estos colectivos sociales vulnerables.
UNFREEDOM será estrenado en el próximo Segundo Festival de Cine y Conferencia Latina en el Cinema de la Universidad de Indiana de la ciudad de Bloomington, Indiana, el 3,4 Y 5 de Abril de 2014.
SINOPSIS/SYNOPSIS
Documentary written and directed by José Octavio Toledo Alcalde (José Toledo), and jointly produced with José Toledo and Community Access Television Services - Monroe Public Library, Bloomington (Indiana-US).
In the midst of cold and insensitive statistics, as well as prolonged debates about the Law of Immigration Reform, millions of people are obligated to live without being recognized officially as "citizens", suffering the stigma of being considered "undocumented" or "illegal."
UNFREEDOM: Latino Immigrants in a Midwestern Town, filmed between the city of Bloomington, Indiana a small city in the US Midwest and Mexico City.Registers personal and family experiences of people related to Latin America (in particular from Mexico), who live their daily lives in the Land of Freedom, ironically in cages of gold, without full freedom.
The documentary intends to be a tribute to all people, who in the exercise of their rights of mobility, decided to emigrate in search of better conditions of life which were, and continue being, negated in their places of origin. In the search of the "American Dream", they only found nightmares, among which that of not being able to return to their countries and reunite with their families. All of this occurs amidst a series of abuses and violations that they suffer from living in this inhumane status.
The tribute is directed -- in the same way -- to all those who are or are not of Latino-Hispanic heritage, who have dedicated their lives, personally or institutionally, to the support, promotion, and defense of the fundamental right of people in the condition of unrecognized "citizens". For this reason, UNFREEDOM documents people -- residents of the city of Bloomington -- that accompany from their social, academic, religious and governmental spheres the hope and struggles of these vulnerable social collectives.
UNFREEDOM will premiere in the upcoming Second Latino Film Festival and Conference: "Transnational Lives" April 3, 4, and 5th of 2014 at Indiana University Cinema, Bloomington-Indiana.

不自由：本纪录片记录是位于美国中西部的印第安纳州中的布鲁明顿小镇中部的拉丁美洲移民在布鲁明顿和老家墨西哥的墨西哥城中的移民故事。这些被采访的小镇居民自己或者家人与拉丁美洲有着千丝万缕的关系（尤其是墨西哥）。这些人生活在一个自由的国度，但现实却讽刺的把他们禁锢在了一个完全没有自由的金色笼子里面。
本纪录片意在为那些还在为自己的移民权力奋斗，或者已经决定为了获得更好的生活而不被自己家乡承认的人们做出力所能及的贡献。
对于那些不能够回到自己祖国和亲人团聚的移民来说，一直在找寻的“美国梦”并不是美梦，而是一场噩梦。之所以会发生这样的情况，是因为他们一直生活在残酷的非人待遇之下。他们的生活充满了一系列的法律诉讼和暴力对待。
同时，本纪录片还奉献给那些一直把自身投入到争取“非法移民”获得美国联邦合法权利的人。基于以上的有所原因，本纪录片镜头下记录的生活都是来自于布鲁明顿的居民，他们分别来自于不同的社会团体、宗教、学术领域、政府部门，但都对非法移民这个弱势群体怀揣着美好的愿望和不屑为之奋斗。
“不自由”将会首先于今年4月3——5日，在印第安纳大学电影院在即将到来的第二届拉丁美洲电影节和“跨国生活”研讨会上放映。欢迎届时观看。
